“After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from God.”
Matthew 4: 2-4
We have landed safe and sound in the Arizona Desert. After 2 days of orientation the group was more than excited to board a plane bound for Phoenix, and finally get our adventure underway. Upon arrival we were met by Jen, of West Coast MCC who brought us to Zzeeks Pizza factory, where the owner, Zzeek, assured we did not live on bread alone, but bread dipped in Icing Sugar. Zzeek left a positive impact on the group, reassuring us that southern hospitality is alive and well. He wished us well and sent us on our way with a bag full Sapoles (Pizza bread dipped in Icing sugar, delish.)
Next stop, Tucson, Arizona where we will plant ourselves for the next couple of days, spending time at the Florence Detention Center among other endeavours. Tonight’s rest, at the Roadrunner Hostel will be appreciated as we prepare to understand the local needs under that beautiful Desert sun.
Rest assured, Parents and loved ones, we’re alive, well, and eager to learn.
Peace & Love
