About

Uprooted is a learning tour for young adults organized by MCC Alberta & Saskatchewan.  Approximately 8 young adults will travel with MCC to Mexico to explore themes of migration & peacebuilding. This 2-week tour will be hosted by MCC Mexico & MCC West Coast and hopes to provide a rich experience for young adults to engage in cross-cultural learning, develop transformative relationships, and gain a greater awareness of the context of global migration.

Goals:

Learn. Challenge yourself and gain first-hand knowledge of migration issues.

Advocate. Become informed on migration policies and explore potential for systemic change.

Explore.  Travel intentionally with other young adults, visiting MCC partners and exploring cultural sites.

Shift.  See the world from a new perspective, challenge your faith, and encounter people in a different cultural context.

Reconcile. Learn about peacebuilding initiatives in a contemporary context of walls and division.

Age: This program is targeted towards young adults ages 18-30ish.

Cost:  Approximately $2,000 (dependent on flight prices)

The fee includes everything you need from your Calgary departure onwards (orientation in Calgary, airfare, in-country accommodations, travel, and food). Fundraising is encouraged. MCC Saskatchewan and Alberta can work alongside participants to fundraise a portion of the program costs.
